What you should know about vitamin B2:
- Vitamin-B2deficiency may be caused by an unbalanced diet. Particularly high levels are found in whole grain foods, yeast, milk, eggs, and meat, especially liver.
- A lack of vitamin B may also be caused by a vegetarian or vegan diet when accompanied by gluten intolerance.
- Vitamin B2 helps maintain normal functioning of the skin, mucus membranes, and the nervous system.
Symptoms of vitamin B2 deficiency may include:
- fissures in the corners of the mouth
- watery eyes
- chronic inflammation of the oral mucosa
As vitamin B2deficiency is often associated with a lack of other B vitamins, you should consult your physician. Vitamin B2deficiency can be checked by means of a blood test.
